This bone reading set was gifted to me by someone who used to sell them, but no longer does. The person wishes to remain anonymous, so I won’t identify them. It’s a nice set and was reasonably priced when they were sold.
The set consists of a small muslin bag and the following 18 pieces:
- 6 chicken bones
- 4 Cowrie shells
- 2 Carved Skulls – one black and one white
- 1 Miniature alphabet block (letters N and B)
- 1 Large resin die
- 1 Scrabble tile
- 1 Plastic baby doll
- 1 Cat’s eye shell
- 1 Nutmeg
- 1 Stone
It is a good basic set that can be used as is, or built upon by its owner. There were no instructions with my set. Although the pieces look small in the photo, the set has a nice size and weight. The baby doll is one and a half inches, the die is 3/4 of an inch, and the skulls are 1/2 an inch, to give you a frame of reference. Several of the bones are similar in size and appearance, but they could be made more distinguishable by some type of marking. Likewise the four purple cowries shells. Although it is no longer available for sale, I am posting it here as a show and tell. Perhaps seeing different sets will spark some ideas that you can use in your own set.
